Dubai [UAE], March 10 (ANI): All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja from Star India was awarded the best fielder of the match accolade for his outstanding performance in the field during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Jadeja got his medal handed over by the team's fielding coach, T. Dilip. Besides Jadeja, captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma, was also up for this accolade.
Captain Rohit Sharma’s quick fifty, coupled with Shreyas Iyer’s solid performance at bat, along with impressive bowling efforts led primarily by spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, enabled India to claim their third ICC Champions Trophy crown as they defeated New Zealand by four wickets in Dubai on Sunday.
The captain of the Men in Blue, Rohit Sharma, received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding play during the championship game. In this match, he delivered an impressive innings of 76 runs off 83 deliveries, featuring seven fours and three sixes.
Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand’s opening batsman, secured both the Golden Bat award for accumulating the highest number of runs and was named ‘Player of the Tournament’ due to his outstanding play during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Over the course of four games, he amassed 263 runs with an impressive average of 65.75, maintaining a strike rate of 106.47. His notable achievements included scoring two centuries—one against Bangladesh in the group stages and another versus South Africa in the semi-finals. Additionally, he contributed defensively by taking three key wickets throughout those matches. In the championship game, he accelerated quickly to score 37 off just 29 deliveries, hitting four fours and one six, which set a strong foundation for his side.
Matt Henry, New Zealand’s right-arm fast bowler, emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the recently held ICC Champions Trophy, played across Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Throughout this event, he claimed a total of 10 wickets over four games, maintaining an impressive average of 16.70. Notably, his performance included taking five wickets during their match against India in the group stages. (ANI)
