Declining the invitation for this year's rally contrasts with his participation in a prior event where he found the experience so memorable that he described it as unforgettably enjoyable.
"It was a fantastic experience; truly amazing and utterly insane, yet one you won’t be able to erase from your memory. The velocity, it’s so intense that the road becomes nearly invisible, coupled with those sharp turns—they were definitely doing their job professionally," remarked Ruto following his thrilling drive during the prior rally event.
However, this year, the President rejected the proposal made by driver Minesh Rathod during a meeting at State House in Nairobi on Monday.
Ruto reflected that although the moment was unforgettably special, it was an event he would treasure despite its rarity.
"It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, though behind the scenes, things aren’t always as they appear," he remarked during a lighthearted interlude.
Minesh's attempts to convince the President to go for a ride were unsuccessful as he pointed out that his associates would probably prevent it from occurring.
"I don't believe my friends would approve of that happening. The last time I tried that, they strongly objected, mentioning safety concerns," Ruto revealed.
The President additionally stated that the WRC 2025 was significant because it provided Kenyans with an opportunity to witness the talents of local drivers, come together, and share in the enjoyment.
He further mentioned that this situation also promotes tourism growth due to the significant number of individuals visiting Kenya from nearby nations and various parts of the world to take part.
"Rally holds significance as it demonstrates Kenya’s status as a sports-loving country and provides an opportunity for Kenyans to appreciate and witness the talents of local drivers. Additionally, it fosters unity among fellow citizens during an entertaining weekend and attracts visitors," stated Ruto.
The WRC 2025 will take place from Thursday through Sunday, March 23, 2025.
