Musalia Mudavadi's ANC Dissolved: Deal Seals Merger with UDA

A recent announcement in the official Gazette confirms that the Amani National Congress is no longer registered as a political party in Kenya.

This comes after a recent pact was made between Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC party and President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance.

In a notice published in the gazette viewed by CDRNEWS.co.ke, Anne Nderitu, the Registrar of Political Parties, mentioned that during the Special National Delegates Congress held on Friday, February 7, ANC decided to dissolve itself voluntarily as per their constitutional guidelines.

"As stated under sections 9 and 34C of the Political Parties Act Cap 7D, as well as paragraph 22 in the second schedule of the same act, this notification informs the general public that Amani National Congress has been dissolved," the announcement indicated partly.

On January 17th, Cecily Mbarire, the chair of UDA, declared the party’s decision to join forces with Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC.

Mbarire, who concurrently holds the position of Embu governor, mentioned that the party will undergo rebranding with a fresh name, colors, and logo while incorporating the identity of the combined organization.

She stated that the new party would embody a national perspective and incorporate the ANC's principles and guidance.

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki were appointed as the party's deputy leaders.

Kevin Lunani took on the position of vice chairperson, whereas Emuhaya MP Omboko Milema was appointed as deputy secretary-general.

She mentioned that the whole ANC team, including all its members and employees, would merge with their respective colleagues to collaborate together.
