Atalanta Star player Ademola Lookman has reportedly caught the attention of Liverpool once more, as the top-tier club eyes potential changes this summer that might include significant reshuffles within their team at Anfield, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Liverpool lead the Premier League table by 15 points and are reportedly turning their focus towards the upcoming summer transfer window, as several key players may leave the club.
At the top of the list is Mohamed Salah, who has not been presented with a new contract by the club yet, along with defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
Moreover, there are proposals indicating that players such as Darwin Núñez, Andrew Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, and possibly Diogo Jota might be transferred if suitable bids come through during the summer.
As reported by Foot Mercato (through Calciomercato.com), Lookman is being considered as a potential addition to Liverpool’s forward line during the upcoming transfer window and might be obtainable at a reduced price of around €60 million from Atalanta this summer.
Lookman’s exit from Atalanta seems near, as he has recently had disagreements with coach Gian Gasperini, even though his contract still has two years left to run.
Since Lookman joined La Dea, his value has increased considerably due to his remarkable performance, particularly his unprecedented hat-trick during last season's Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen. This achievement not only earned Atalanta their very first European title but also contributed to Lookman being honored as the CAF African Footballer of the Year in December.
According to Football Italia, Liverpool views Lookman as an attractive choice because of his price tag compared to their other transfer options. It is reported that Newcastle’s Alexander Isak has a valuation close to €200 million, similar to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, who is priced at approximately €80 million by the German club.
The Nigerian player has previously competed in the Premier League after transferring from Charlton Athletic to join Everton, one of Liverpool’s local competitors, in 2017. Additionally, he has had stints with Fulham and Leicester City during loans from RB Leipzig.
Lookman, who has been named Africa's Footballer of the Year, is presently tied for third place as the top scorer in Serie A this season, having netted 13 goals and provided five assists across 22 appearances in the league.
Before the Italian team was knocked out in the playoff round, he contributed to seven goals in seven Champions League matches, which included scoring five times and providing two assists.
