Washington [US], March 15 (ANI): Apple TV+ has officially renewed its Emmy-winning comedy series 'Ted Lasso' for a fourth season, with star Jason Sudeikis set to reprise his role as the titular character.
This announcement follows over a year of speculations regarding the show’s continuation, with Sudeikis committing to return playing a crucial role in securing its renewal.
The creators announced the information through their verified social media accounts.
"Ted Lasso has been nothing less than phenomenal, cultivating an enthusiastic global following, and providing boundless delight and humor, while promoting kindness, empathy, and unshakeable optimism," stated Matt Cherniss, the head of programming for Apple TV+, in his announcement.
"We're all excited at Apple to keep working with Jason and the talented team responsible for this series," he stated, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The show's production crew earlier mentioned that their choice for a fourth season hinges on Sudeikis being willing to stay onboard.
The Hollywood Reporter recently shared an interview where Sudeikis disclosed that in season four, Ted will mentor a women’s team. This development was foreshadowed in the last episode of season three.
Filming for season four is anticipated to start during the summertime, as screenwriters are already busy crafting scripts for the upcoming season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the returning cast members of the show, such as Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, are anticipated to come back; however, Apple TV+ hasn't formally announced any casting decisions apart from confirming Sudeikis.
'Ted Lasso' has garnered both critical acclaim and significant viewership for Apple TV+, with the third season becoming the platform's most watched series so far.
The show has also received many accolades, including multiple Emmy wins.
