Filipino Travelers Lead the Charge for Sustainable Tourism in Asia: Agoda Study Reveals

According to a recent report by the online travel platform Agoda, 86% of surveyed Filipino travelers expressed concerns about sustainable tourism for the year 2025, marking the highest percentage in Asia.

According to Agoda's poll involving 6,000 participants from 11 different Asian locations, Indian travelers came in second place with an 82% ranking, closely trailed by both Taiwanese and Malaysian visitors who each secured an 80% position.

In Vietnam, 77% of participants showed enthusiasm for eco-friendly tourism, surpassing the Southeast Asian average of 68%.

To lessen their ecological footprint, 22% of Vietnamese travelers prefer visiting during the off-peak season to avoid crowds, according to Agoda. Additionally, 21% select eco-friendly certified lodgings, and 15% carry sustainable items like refillable water bottles and fabric shopping bags to decrease waste.

In recent years, sustainable travel has emerged as a major focus within the tourism sector.

A number of locations throughout Asia have implemented initiatives like limiting single-use plastics, prohibiting plastic bags, and advocating for environmentally friendly items to foster more sustainable travel practices.
