Situated at the foot of the Alps, Turin lies just a stone's throw away from the region's snow-capped peaks, making it an ideal base for winter sports enthusiasts!
Skiers make the most of the skiing available in their area, specifically when the Via Lattea (or "Milky Way") has a new layer of crisp snow. This ski area has 250 miles of ski runs suitable for all types of skiing: downhill, snowboarding, or freestyle. You can follow in the ski tracks of Olympic medallists, who competed in the 2006 Winter Olympics here.
Bardonecchia is another large ski resort easily accessible from Turin. Surrounded by mountains with peaks over 3,000 meters high, the resort has excellent facilities: 21 ski lifts, a snow park, a cross-country skiing trail, a snow tubing run, an ice rink and more. A ride down Monte Jafferau provides a thrilling shot of adrenaline and stunning panoramic views. In the summer, you can replace skiing with mountaineering, mountain biking, climbing, and various water sports such as kayaking, rafting, and canyoning. Regardless of the season, the scenery is equally breathtaking!
